Overview

Publishing your GHG Assessment on the ADEME website helps make your carbon reporting approach visible and, in some cases, meet a regulatory requirement.
This article guides you through the main steps to publish your GHG Assessment on the ADEME platform.

Key benefits / use cases

  • Transparency: demonstrate your organization’s commitment to environmental transparency.

  • Regulatory compliance: meet the legal requirement for certain organizations to publish a GHG Assessment every 3 or 4 years, depending on the case.

  • Credibility: strengthen the credibility of the published data by using an official platform.

  • Comparison: allow stakeholders to compare your organization’s performance with other organizations in the same sector.

  • Progress tracking: encourage regular publication and monitoring of emission reduction efforts.

  • Certifications: help maintain or improve your status in certain certifications, such as EcoVadis.

Step 1: create your ADEME account

To publish your GHG Assessment, go to the ADEME website and create an account.
Once logged in, access the Publish my report page through the following path:
Online reports > Publish > Publish my report
Then click Create a new report.
If you already have an account, you will be able to find the reports you previously saved.

Step 2: complete the identity form

A form appears with information related to your entity and to the greenhouse gas (GHG) assessment.
The SIREN step is mandatory for all entities.
A few points to keep in mind:

  • Check the SIREN copy-paste carefully: the 9 digits are not always correctly included.

  • At the end of each entry page, remember to save your changes.

  • For the consolidation mode, enter operational.
    A company or association can add as many SIRENs as needed, especially in the case of consolidated reporting for a group.
    Please note: a company can choose to declare the same consolidated GHG Assessment for all companies in the group with the same level 2 NAF code, meaning the same first two digits of their NAF codes.

Step 3: fill in the declaration table

You will then reach the tab corresponding to the declaration table.
In this tab, you can choose whether to hide or display the table for categories 3 to 6.
Emissions are divided into two tables:

  • Direct emissions: category 1.

  • Indirect emissions: categories 2 to 6.
    You can also indicate:

  • whether a baseline year has been calculated;

  • whether avoided emissions have been calculated.
    If a baseline year has been calculated, you will need to enter the corresponding data. If avoided emissions have been calculated, a dedicated table will also need to be completed.

Step 4: fill in the additional information

This section concerns avoided emissions related to your activity.
Fill in the requested information if it applies to your organization.

Step 5: complete the transition plan

In this tab, enter your transition plan.
It should include:

  • the actions you plan to implement to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions;

  • the associated resources;

  • the targets to reach for the next assessment.

Step 6: present your organization

This tab allows you to add more context to the published assessment.
You can present:

  • your organization;

  • its history;

  • its environmental commitments;

  • your sustainable development policy, if applicable.

Step 7: describe the methodology

You can describe the methodological elements used for your report.
You can specify:

  • the different scopes;

  • uncertainties;

  • excluded items;

  • sources used;

  • the SIREN numbers associated with your assessment;

  • any recalculations.
    Example: Emissions were calculated by combining physical and monetary approaches. When physical data was available, the physical approach was used. Otherwise, the monetary approach was used. The emission factors used mainly come from ADEME’s Base EmpreinteĀ®, and some come from studies conducted by Greenly.

Step 8: provide the contact details of the person in charge

This step is mandatory.
The information in this section will only be visible to:

  • site administrators;

  • the DREAL teams in charge of reviewing your file.
    Your DREAL may contact you if additional information is needed regarding your regulatory assessment.

Step 9: provide information about the assessment process

This section allows you to share general information about how the GHG Assessment was carried out.
You will need to provide:

  • the cost of the assessment;

  • the time spent on the study.

Step 10: publish the assessment

In the final tab, you will be able to publish your assessment if all mandatory fields in the previous tabs have been completed.
If you make a mistake, the published assessment can still be edited from the My assessments tab on the My entities and assessments page.
