Greenly emission factors
COMPANY REPORT: a monetary ratio that is computed by dividing a company’s Scope 1, 2, and 3 upstream emissions by its revenue; this also includes benchmarks of companies within the same sector. These are used in the financial transaction module to increase the accuracy of spend-based calculations by replacing average country-specific emission factors with supplier-specific data.
GREENLY MEF: a monetary ratio that is computed by dividing the average carbon footprint of a product by its average price. These are used in the financial transaction module to increase the accuracy of spend-based calculations by replacing emission factors computed using high-level Multi-Regional Input-Output (MRIO) tables with product-specific monetary emissions factors. The average carbon footprint of the product is sourced from renowned databases (e.g., ADEME Base Empreinte, the UK government conversion factors, EPA emission factors, Ecoinvent, etc.), and the average price is generally sourced from publicly available statistics.
COMPANY PRODUCT LCA: an emission factor based on a LCA of a specific product provided by a company.
GREENLY PRODUCT LCA: an emission factor based on a LCA of a specific product calculated by Greenly.
GREENLY IT: IT equipment emission factor based on LCAs provided by IT suppliers. These emission factors are sourced from reports published by the suppliers on their website.
GREENLY EXPERTS & WELOW EXPERTS: emission factors that are computed by Greenly experts.
RESEARCH PAPER: emission factors computed and published in a research paper. These are peer-reviewed articles that are published in renowned scientific journals. The exact citation of the research paper can be found in the methodology column of the emission factor.
PUBLIC AUTHORITY: other emission factors that are provided by public authorities that don’t yet have a specific category. The exact source and name of the public authority can be found in the methodology column of the emission factor.
DUMB EF: 1 kgCO2e/kgCO2e ratios that are used to import external calculations to the platform.
OTHER: other emission factors that don’t fit within any other sources;
