Overview
On Greenly's platform, the building module lets your organization record all relevant information about the buildings under its financial or operational control. One of the key data points is the electricity grid each building is connected to. Assigning the correct grid allows Greenly to calculate accurate location-based electricity emissions, since the carbon intensity of electricity varies significantly from one region to another.
This article explains how to find the electricity grid code for any building using the ElectricityMaps tool.
Finding your electricity grid
To find the electricity grid your building is using, follow these steps:
Go to the ElectricityMaps website.
On the map, click on your building's location.
The electricity grid code appears in the URL, at the top, just after
/zone/. In the example below, it'sIT-NObecause it corresponds to the North Italian grid.
Once you have the grid code, enter it in the corresponding field of the building module on the Greenly platform.
