Define your exact reporting scope by managing the applicability of your indicators. By marking irrelevant data points as not applicable, you hide them from your team's workflow and ensure your reporting focuses only on material topics.
Understand Applicability vs. Availability
Before modifying any forms, you must understand the critical difference between these two statuses to maintain compliance.
Applicability: This defines whether a topic is relevant or material to your overall business strategy. If an indicator is deemed not applicable, it is entirely removed from your active reporting scope.
Availability: This status applies when a topic is material and belongs in your scope, but your company currently lacks the required data or measurement processes. These indicators are kept in your reporting scope and flagged as unavailable.
Warning: Only users holding the Project Manager role are permitted to change the applicability of an indicator. This restriction ensures that the project framing and reporting scope remain strictly controlled by authorized personnel.
Remove a Datapoint from Your Scope
When you determine an indicator is not material to your organization, you must formally skip it to remove it from the required workflow.
Navigate to the ESG Data menu in the main left-hand sidebar, and select the Data Collection tab
Click on the specific indicator row to open its data collection form.
Locate and click the Skip button positioned near the save options at the bottom of the form.
Select the radio button labeled This question is not applicable to our company.
Scroll to the Justification text box and type a clear explanation for the audit trail. For example, explicitly state that the "information is not material for our company".
Click the green Skip this question button to confirm your action.
Once completed, the indicator is taken out of your reporting scope. It will be hidden from the active tasks of Owners and Validators, ensuring they only focus on required data.
Restore an Applicable Datapoint
If your business context changes or an indicator was hidden by mistake, you can put it back into your active reporting scope at any moment.
Navigate to the main Data Collection table.
Use the Applicability button located at the top of the table to display indicators that are currently hidden or marked as not material.
Click the target indicator to open its form.
Remove the skipped status to revert the indicator back to applicable.
Proceed to assign an Owner and Validator to ensure the indicator is integrated back into the standard data collection workflow.
