Why consider emissions from IT Inventory?

These emissions concern almost every company. It concerns a very visible part of the company purchases, and in some cases (service companies) an important post of emissions.

Type of raw data

💡 The data collected depends on the methodology:

  • For a GHG Protocol, only equipment bought over the year of assessment need to be included in the data collection

  • For a BEGES, since emissions are amortized over time, equipment bought less than 3 years ago needs to be collected.
🎯 The format of the collected data is as follows:

  • Granularity: Type of equipment, manufacturer, reference

  • Measured values: Number of equipment

  • For a comprehensive guidance on data collection details, read the “Data collection guide” article

Processing across referentials

GHG Protocol: The list of equipment is matched with our database (exact match, or the closest possible). Then, the unitary impact of equipment is multiplied by the number of equipment bought this year.BEGES: The list of equipment is matched with our database (exact match, or the closest possible). Then, the unitary impact of equipment is divided by 3 (amortization over 3 years), and multiplied by the number of equipment bought over the last 3 years.

Types of emission factors

The emission factors used comes from two type of sources:

  • The extract of Boavista database, gathering a large list of manufacturers LCAs.

  • LCAs available directly on manufacturers websites and average equipment.
