Summary

This section provides an overview of the methodology that will be applied to the GHG assessment. It defines why the specific data is relevant, how it will be measured, and what categories or frameworks are used.

Why consider emissions from Consultant & Contractor?

  • Purpose: One of the largest source of scope 3 emissions for service-heavy companies.
When work is performed on your sites using your equipment, can also drive Scope 2 and on‑site Scope 1 upstream emissions.

  • What is taken into account:

  • Average commute emission per day worked (based on global statistics)

  • Average annual km for business trip (e.g if one consultant is written to have plane business trips, we will take an average of 9km of plane per day for the whole year)

  • Average Food & Drinks (average meal emissions, per day worked)

  • Average AC, heating at the consultant’s home

  • Average waste per day worked

  • Average digital emissions (internet, datacenter, …)

  • If you provide the IT equipment, we don't account for it (as it's already included in your IT inventory module). If you don't provide it, we account for the amortization of the consultant phone, monitor and computer over the period they worked for your company.

  • If they have business trip, we account for hotel night per days worked, depending on their business trip. For example, for a consultant that has plane business trips, we make the hypothesis that, on average, every 44 days worked, he books a hotel night.

  • All the above emissions factor are adjusted depending on the country where it was emitted.

Type of raw data

General information
The client will have to define archetypes, that will be attributed to each consultant. The parameters are simple:

  • Do they furnish the IT equipment

  • The country

  • The share of teleworking

  • The type of professional travel
Once these archetypes are created, they can attribute them to each consultant, and enter the number of worked days.
Of course, others tags can be used if the clients want more analysis.

Processing between methodologies

General information

Advanced module

Data processing differs depending on the methodology:

  • GHG Protocol:

  • Food & drinks are not accounted for

  • Business travel emission factor are different, not accounting for vehicle amortization

  • BEGES:

  • Food & Drinks are accounted for

Types of emission factors

  • Databases & data used: Greenly, ADEME, Various statistical studies on employees’ habits

  • Lots of average are used in this study because people usually don’t have too much info on their consultants. However, if you have more info about consultant, a custom analysis is still possible, although at the cost of a longer analysis time

  • Almost all the countries are present in our database so we can try to have the most precise average EF.
