Overview

This article guides you through the Machines Inventory module in Greenly. It covers what the module calculates, which data is required or optional, how to import your file, and how to review your results once uploaded.

Key benefits / use cases

  • Calculate the carbon impact of your company's machines inventory for the studied year.

  • Get granular results by machine family, type, and motorization.

  • Improve data quality over time by adding optional fields such as year of purchase.

1. Which data should be included in your data collection file?

The aim of this module is to calculate the environmental impact of your company's machines inventory during the studied year. This covers machines that are owned or leased by your organization.

⚠️ This is an advanced module. Data must be submitted via the Greenly import template — manual entry is not available for this module.
⚠️ To be processed by Greenly, the data provided must be in French 🇫🇷 or English 🇬🇧.
You can find your module's data collection file by clicking on the module > tab "2. Data collection">"Bulk import - via template".
Your data collection file contains two types of data: mandatory and optional.Mandatory data — required to calculate CO₂e emissions. Without it, our algorithm cannot proceed:

  • Name

  • Family (dropdown menu)

  • Number of units purchased/leased

  • Number of lease days (if applicable)
Optional data — increases the quality and granularity of the analysis:

  • Type (dropdown menu) — at least one of Type or Weight must be filled- Weight (must be filled if Type is empty) —at least one of Type or Weight must be filled

  • Motorization

  • Year of purchase (highly recommended)

2. How to upload your data to the Greenly platform?

To upload your data, click on the corresponding task on the Progress page, or go to Data > Data Collection > Machine Inventory.
Since this is an advanced module, data must be submitted via the Greenly template:

  1. Click "Bulk import" to download the template. It downloads in the language of your platform. Fill in the English template with English data, and the French one with French data. You can download the other language version from the READ ME tab of the template.

Upload your completed file in the "Upload file" section. You can also attach supporting documents for traceability and auditability in the**"File Information (optional)"** section.

  2. Once your data is uploaded, click "Submit for analysis". An analyst will review it and complete the module.

3. Review your data and read your results

Make sure at least one of the two columns are filled: Type, Weight

4. Review your data and read your results

Once you have uploaded your data, you can flag the expenses related to the module to avoid double counting and access your results. Read the related article for details.
